It's very nearly finished, and I have to say that Peter Wells has done an utterly wonderful job!

This has been (and remains even now) a movable feast. We've been tweaking bits of it for the last 10 days as more news has come in and Peter has carried out additional testing.

I really do believe that this is going to be very special indeed.

It encapsulates the current state of play of the consumer and prosumer DVD authoring market.

It has overviews of various elements of DVD authoring and summarised reviews of authoring and encoding software (Mac and Windows); hardware encoders; DVD EIDE burners; and DVD set-top burners.

And, it is being covermounted on an issue which will have a bunch of other DVD stuff in it - led by the iMac DVD!

The fact that it's nearly killed me is not relevant.

I am hugely excited about it.

If folk find it even half as useful and enjoyable as I think they will, then they will be VERY pleased with it.

Now that's what I call timing, I have just saved up enough for a DVD Writer, and started a 6 month subscription to the magazine last month.

Looking forward to the results of the team’s hard work.

"Having your finger on the pulse" is the best compliment I can give the C.V. team regards this subject.

Well done guys, I can't wait to read it!

If it includes article or information on the S201 or the likes as well, i am in for some serious saving

Especially with the imminent release of ProCoder.

Kindest regards, and although i genuinly look forward to ComputerVideo Magazine dropping through the door, i myself believe this will be "special".

Thanks to all in advance that work on the publication, Bob.

Bob - as you`re apparently speaking for Peter at this moment in time - I`ve often wondered, and once asked, is he the same Peter who used to write for a certain Amiga Mag some few years ago....... ?

Cheers - Ron.

Ron,

I wouldn't presume to speak for Peter, and you'd be wrong to assume that I do.

But, no, he's not the one who used to write for Amiga Mag - he's far too young for that.

Oh, and I've just received advance copies of the DVD supplement and I think it's rather good.

The only obvious problem I have with it is that there is one double-page spread where the left and right pages are about different things, and the headlines on these two facing pages look odd.

Stupid! I should have looked at the two pages together, but I never did, I only looked at them separately - but normally, in the mag itself, we do not have facing pages about different subjects.

Doh!

Actually, come to think of it, I've got a horrible feeling this might have been a change I agreed to at the last minute, cos the ad dept wanted a double-page spread, rather than two individual pages.

I'll look into this and kick shins if necessary (even if they are my own).

A big 'thank-you' to Peter, Bob and Computer Video Magazine for an excellent supplement (and the June issue is also great guys). This is what many of us have been wrestling with and its all put together in one reference work. Thanks again, your timing is spot on and I think you will have saved many of us a lot of research time and money.
