6.5 Freezing

I can't open up Premier 6.5

It flies through the opening process happily opening all the files untill it gets to the very last file that it has to load. The last file is called 'zigzag' and when 6.5 reaches it, it just freezes up. It's as if it simply can't find it.

Can anyone offer advice please.

Hi Robert

Is the file still where it should be?

Maybe the file is corrupt so can another copy of the file be captured?

If this is the only copy try moving the file to another folder.  6.5 should load without it then try to re-import it into the Project.

Will think of more possible causes.

Hope both of you are well.

Hi Harry.

Thanks for that.
Computer is with the computer man since last week. He is not into video editing programs and a bit stuck in finding the fault.
I will pass your reply on to him.

Many cheers.

Hold down SHIFT and CTRL while starting Premiere - keep them down until the splash screen has gone - it clears the preferences.

If 6.5 fails you can always download CS2 as it has been made available for free http://www.adobe.com/downloads/cs2_downloads/
Your PC will have to meet the CS2 spec

It would seem that the download for CS2 has been withdrawn.

Cheers.

Hi Fergie.
It is still there. You need to log in and have your Adobe ID/password.

Win7!!!
Try start / top of the menu should be the computer name. Click on that and you should see “Downloads” where it should be, unless you have previously downloaded to another location.

John...I tried the download with my laptop (because it runs a lot better than this old desktop) and it runs on Vista. Your suggestion is not there.

Sorry Fergie,  apart from the download failing in some way, try a search for Adobe CS2. You will eventually find it where you least expect it!

Hi Fergie

I downloaded the1.01 GB zip file but I haven't installed it, maybe a search of PPRO_2.0_Ret-NH_UE.zip in Windows Explorer will find your missing download?

Thanks John.
Did as you said but there is no sign of it. I will have to assume that the downloads failed.
