anybody have any quick ways of doing this? mainly I want to be able to quickly reduce/bump up audio tracks before importing into DVD Studio Pro as a lot of the time it's not ideal 'as is' - usually too loud.

at the moment I'm opening the aif into FCP, bringing down the levels and exporting the sequence 'audio as aif'. works ok but a bit of a faf.

Hi
Have you got the copy of Peak LE that was bundled with some versions of FCP? That has a 'normalise' option which is exactly the right tool for this job - it will limit the peak audio level to the percentage level you specify.

Hi Paul

.... and if anyone supplies a film with differential audio sections, will Peak satisfy the problem? I've been doing what has been mentioned until now; even lowering the pressure of one small part. If I read you right, Peak will simply curtail the upper limit?

Hi
No, the normalise action only reduces the overall level of the whole audio file so that the highest peak is reduced to the percentage you set.

You need a compressor or limiter filter to alter the balance of your audio peaks relative to the average level of the audio file.

Hi, yip think I've got that disc kickin around. You get so many apps these days bundled in with stuff and most are rubbish in my view, but obv there's a few gooduns hidden in there. I'll give it a go, ta.

That's what I was convinced I'd realised ! Ta.
