good day

i'm new to this board. my research lead me here(thru google).

i used to run my dv500 with a P3 866 mhz and asus cuv4x-c mobo and 512mb of pc133 sdram. also have a promise fast track tx100 ide raid card. it was running well on win xp pro sp2 on 4.5 drivers. recently i upgraded my pc to an amd platform. using an amd 64x2 4400+, ecs nforce6m-a mobo, nvidia 7200 pci-e grfx card and a gig of ddr800 ram. here's my problem. when i tried booting up with dv500 installed, nothing happens. there's power and all but nothing comes out of the monitor. no actions what so ever. tried moving the dv500 to different pci slots but still no luck. when i boot up with the dv500 uninstalled everything runs ok, pc boots up and all. my windows xp sp2 is a fresh install too. dont know what the problem is.

can any of you guys especially the amd + dv500 users out there help me?

thanks in advance

Hi,

I have different hardware, so until someone with a more constructive answer comes along..

I wonder if the pc is hunting for the DV500 driver and not finding it.. ot the driver thinks it's an another (redundant) pci slot?

You mention the DV500 being uninstalled - did you also uninstall the driver as well as the card- and perhaps with the switching of pci slots the driver needs be re-installed - and perhaps double check the DV500 is compatible with your new/revised hardware.

Possibly you can also start the pc in safe mode to unload/reload drivers with dv500 in place?

hi sir dave.

actually sir i havent even had the chance to install the driver because the pc wonth boot when the dv500 is installed (physically i mean) in the pci slot. manuals says that before installing the drivers the dv500 should first be installed in the pci slot.

thanks sir

Hi Thugsk8er,

In the Uk 'Sir' isn't used amongst friends - and as this is a friendly place - no need for the 'Sir'.
Did you try starting in 'safe mode', where only 'essentials' are started at boot up, for the very purpose of diagnosing problems?

just found out that the dv500's requirement is a 2.1 compliant pci slot. my new mobo is 2.3. but the dv500 works on my celeron system on ecs p4m800-m7 mobo which is 2.2 pci version.

help :(

i have solved the problem. apparently the dv500 wont work with my ecs nforce6m-a mobo
same goes for an ecs nforce 5 mobo. i got it working in a msi k9neo v3 mobo, if im not mistaken, its a nforce3 mobo.

for the benefit of other dv500 users out there, you may encounter this problem(black out) when using your dv500 with a nforce 5 or 6 mobo. be sure to test it first if ever you'll buy a mobo higher than nforce 3 or 4
