Analogue input with DSR11

I've tried a number of times and looked elsewhere.....

System Profile is G4 Dual 800 - CPU (2.1) speeds 800 MHz - L 2 Cache per CPU 256 KB - L3 Cache per CPU 2MB - Bus speed 133 MHz - Boot ROM version 4.33f2......and don't anyone ask me what it all completely means because they'll only get a part answer! RTMac is also installed, with 2x80gb HDs, the second one for storage of FCP work.

I'm running RTMac in 9.2.2 with QT 5.04 and from a folder in the Boot Drive I'm also now on OS10.3.3 with QT6.5. Hitherto OSX has worked quite well for FCP3 in lower grade (10.1.5) from the same source.

After finding that upgrading to OS10.3.3 had somehow changed my DSR settings I managed to get video in but no sound is accompanying, and I've doublly checked the leads.

Analyze Movie Clip shows everything there.
Item Properties format shows the same.
Sequence Settings ditto.
Prefs shows everything there including Scratch Disk compatible with other settings on my second H.D.
Summary in Sequence Settings shows Audio and Video set.
Capture Presets shows audio input for first two channels@ 48 KHz as chosen but Speaker Off is shown.
Checking with Advanced Button in Preset Editor shows Speaker On selected together with DV Audio and vol. at 100 on first two channels as chosen.
DSR11 settings show Record Mode set @DV SP and DV EE set to On.

During my searching around I've noted that my viewer screen is shown in Item Properties as NTSC and I can't alter it to PAL. Selecting the PAL setting does not change the NTSC figures opposite.

Analize Clip shows everything there - both video and audio but the Audio Meter in the FCP 3 screen does not show any indication, as if the input leads are not connected... !

Anyone help?

Not really sure about loss of sound ut the NTSC thing may be....

On the back of the DSR11 there is a switch for NTSC / PAL - you need a biro to move it. Check it's not set to NTSC.

Thanks for that Gavin. N.B.G. PAL is shown on the front info lights anyway. I've had it jumping betweeen NTSC and PAL in the past and can't remember what caused it but provided a remedy at the time.

Clutching at straws.....

I noted that DV SP in the DSR settings produces 32kHz whilst DV CAM supplies 48 kHz so I altered that particular setting but no good. I've also noted that in OS10.3.3 but not in 9.2.2 the Sequence Preset "DV 48kHz Superwhite" is not locked and in the Summary last line "16bit 48,000 kHz Stereo" has a background line through it, disfiguring the words somewhat. Also, in Device Control Presets, althoukgh I'm using "Non-controllable Device" the Firewire PAL also is not locked.

I also went back down to 9.2.2 and tried to get video/audio through the DSR11 but similarly failed, with video but no audio, yet accomplished it with the RTMac, indicating that, somewhere the fault lies with the DSR?

Any more takers.. ?

Thankfully I've cracked it but don't know exactly how. 'Undid and did up' everything, wires settings, the lot. Now up and running in 10.3.3 with DSR11 and analogue input.
