I'm having problems trying to get 'smooth' animation from a bunch of stills I'm using for an opener. I have exported using loads of different variables but I still seem to be getting juddering from the stills on screen. What ball park settings do you use if you are exporting from Motion?
I obviously use the animation compression setting out of Motion. I've tried 25, 29.97, 30 and 50 fps. Render quality best. Show I have field rendering and frame blending ticked?
Any help or tried and tested settings will be welcomed.
Thanks
Is this stills taken from moving video? If so, have you applied the deinterlace filter on them first? That could well be the reason for your juddering.
No they were from a stills camera. I have kind of sorted the problem now I had the wrong resolution settings in Motion that didn't sync to my sequence settings in FCP.
Ah, right. Glad you got it fixed. You probably already knew about the deinterlacing business with freeze-frames.
Hmm kind of....I have noticed in the past that when a, for example, a still camera flash goes off and you freeze that section of the clip you can see the interlaced lines. I mention this because I wanted to freeze a section before on the point of the flash and had problems with those interlaced lines but I take it all I had to do was de-interlace the section?
Yes, probably. The problem I've had in the past with freeze-frames was stills which looked fine on my monitor would often display juddering when played back on a TV. The deinterlacing filter sorts the problem.
