Can anyone tell me my old DC 30 (MAC) could capture single frames in capture mode, I need a new system that will do this, The new DC30 Plus will not

Surely, this isn't a function of the card but, instead, of the capture software.

Are you sure that Premiere (the software I guess you've got) does NOT have the facility.

If it doesn't, then aren't there any utils that can do it?

NB - I have copied this thead (rather than moved it) to the Mac Video forum, just to increase the chances of your getting worthwhile replies.

Have been a Mac Premiere user for a number of years now, and I cannot remember seeing this option anywhere.

By the way. The Final Cut test in the april issue stated that Premiere for Mac is not compatible with OS9. This is not correct. I have been using v5.1c for quite some time both with MacOS9 and MacOS9.04

I presume what you want to do is stop-go /frame by frame animation. I haven't heard of anything that will do the trick in analogue - I know that photoDV software from DigitalOrigin does capture single frames thru firewire if you had a DV cam.

Maybe a work around for analogue would be to capture from a live camera a second of footage and then just trim it to a single frame, move your subject then repeat the process. Else go the photoDV route. DV cams are almost as cheap as new editing boards now.

Actually there may be a DV cam that has that ability.
