Any recommendations please for this? Even with screen brightness turned down I seem to have some vision impairment after using this iMac for any period longer than a few minutes.
Effect is not dissimilar to looking directly at a fluorescent lamp.

Hi Ron,
I don't have anything specific for the iMac but....
Firstly the monitor could have a fault. Use an external monitor for a few hours to see if it's any better.
It could also be clashing with other lighting in the room - a very subtle flicker (of the two) can do your head in but not be obvious as the cause. Easy enough to test - just switch off any ambient lighting & work in the dark for a bit.
Can you alter your viewing angle? It could help to reduce eye strain.
If you are seeing a lot of reflections from room lighting (gloss screen?) you could make a cardboard hood quite easily to see if that helps.
We've been using large, hi-res monitors for a while and you do have to be careful not to set the font height or the icons too small.
Hope this helps.
Gavin
Thanks Gavin. During the day I don't need artificial light and the iMac is positioned on my desk with the window behind it.
I am looking for some sort of screen to fit over the computer. When I was working we had these, for those who wanted them, for our office PCs.
I'm retired to the wilds of Murkyside, so I can no longer stroll down Tottenham Court Road at lunchtime.
I suppose I could try the Apple Store in Liverpool where I got this piece of kit but friendly as the staff are they don't strike me as well, total technophiles.
