Is it safe to embrace the new OS and QT7, or stick to 10.3.9 cos it works?
Hi
I haven't ventured to do it yet as I'm mid-project.
Try this for more info:
lafcpug.org/tutorials/basic_tiger_upgrade.html
Been using QT 7, FCP 4.5 and Tiger on my G4 733Mhz, 1,5GB Powermac for about a month. No problems so far...
I'm currently running FCP studio on a 17" 1.67 Powerbook with 2gb ram under 10.4.1 and have been since Studio was released and haven't had a single problem!
So..... Go enjoy!!
Indy.....
I upgraded my mac MINI 10.3.9 to Tiger.
On the Panter system everything worked fine, but now
I cannot capture from my TRV30 or TRV30e
I can administrate cams run back and forth and stop.
Imovie works and captures video fine.
How can FCP administer the camera ( means connection )
and Imovie administer and capture from camera.
When FCP at the same times says there is no device connected
Hi
If FCP can control the camcorder, but not capture from it when all its capture settings are correct, then with the camera powered-up in playback mode and connected to the computer then quitting FCP, and opening it up again, then opening Log and Capture sometimes gets things going properly.
Hi again PaulD, and thank you for the suggestion, I tried that yesterday and it did not help..
Then I read somewhere in a thread, that I could reinstall Quicktime.
So I did ..
Wohhopppla.. ! back in bussiness.
funny thing.. FCP.. does not want to work without the Quicktime. it was the same version as I had before.. 7.01 .. anyway Im glad and funktional again.

forgot to give the link to the solution to this what seams a global problem http://www.kenstone.net/cgi/discussions/general.cgi?read=53595#TOP
Hi
The Apple Care information in that link is NOT to use the automatic System Update procedure, and ALWAYS download a standalone installer from Apple's web site support pages for any upgrades that need to be installed - especially OS upgrades, as it seems a lot more trouble-free to use the Combo updater every time.
Also it seems better to do a full clean install of Tiger (with data backed up during the transition), rather that just an update from Panther (as in the link I posted earlier in this thread).
In terms of video editing problems that has been the recommendation of lots of users over the lifetime of OS X. Thanks for posting the discussion link ;)
