Apple recently released a firmware update for Single-Processor G5 Power Macs.
However a large number of 1.6Ghz users have reported continual USB Lock outs after a few minutes of working since installing the upgrade.
1.8Ghz users do not seem to be affected, and there seems to be no way to downgrade back to the previous firmware.
A few minutes after booting up, depending on RAM and Loading, all USB Activity stops - which means no keyboard or mouse! Some users report than moving to the front panel mounted USB port gives temporary relief - long enough to shut down and re-boot!
The update is available via "Software Updates" in System Preferences.
There is no firmware update for Dual processor users.
