Just seen the introduction to this bit of kit on the Mac Video weekly update. It's a ProRes 422 recorder for HDMI equipped cameras (SDI version in development too). Does the same as a Ki Pro or NanoFlash, but much, much cheaper and with some nice innovations regarding storage and power.

Could be very interesting. D

I see it uses two (?) "2.5 Notebook HDD or SSD hard drives" - that always seemed like a good idea to me - hot swappable, and cheap enough to have one per project.

Hello

So is anyone using the Ninja????

I've also heard of the firestore unit. Anymore out there that can record via the cameras firewire or HDMI port?

Just found this too: http://www.jigsaw24.com/product-details/m421ava/blackmagic-hyperdeck-shuttle-uncompressed-video-recorder

Thanks

Not using it but saw it at BVE in February. Quite impressive for the money. There's also the more established Nanoflash and the recently released FFV Sidekick, both much more expensive. See here:

Z Cheema has trialled some of the resulting files on Vegas.

Th Blackmagic Shuttle is a different kettle of fish though. It saves uncompressed video which demands a fast SSD and space disappears faster than an embarassing tabloid! ;)

After posting I noticed the prices of the SSD cards!!!!

Wow.

Think I'll look into the Ninja.
