Will any DV card work with the AV Master. And when editing in the DV format can the o/p be seen on the external monitor connected to the AV Master.
The AV Master res. is 768x576 DV res. is 720x576. How long to convert files to DV for use in MSP 6.
Anyone know why MSP 6 can`t read .dif files as in Fast DV Now AV. I am sure MSP 6 works with this card. It`s no good buying a card that can`t record a half our program without stopping. My AVM can! (Please can we have a review soon.)
Ref. CV March 2000 review of DV Now. It says the .dif file format has no capture limit and is restricted to one disk. Win 98 has a 4gig limit. Is there a multifile capture as with AV Master.
Reading the excellent MSPro. 6 tutorial, I tried marking the clips, cutting and using the smart trim. It worked for the first 1gig clip but refuses to work again. There are no in/out times in the window. Does this only work for DV. I have had some irritating problems with MSP 6 and AV Master, could this be another one. The 6.0.02 patch is installed.
Thanks hopefully for your replies.

I'm taking 10 times run length to convert av to dv with MSP6.
I can then print DV straight to tape.
But I'm having trouble with raw DV Capture.
It comes in fine if I use the Fast Codec on my Firewire and capture as AVW. (See next topic for details)

I have DV master 1.7 with the new build that just came out 3/30 2001 for ULead Media Studio Pro 6002 , I get raw footage in fine and out fine but if I do anything in Ulead Media Studio Pro 6002 or Cool 3D 3.0 and then try to get it out through the DVMaster Codec, I get pinkish purple hue. Can any one help me with that problem?quote:Originally posted by Glyn:

Thanks Glyn.
That`s slow if you are looking at 2gig files.
I`m using a PIII 500 so don’t think there would much difference. I assume by using a dedicated card like the DV Now AV, it would be faster as the resolution is the same for both formats.
As my end results go to s-vhs or vhs the AVM is ok. If only sony halved the price of their walkman “I wish.†That and a DV card would do.

Just installed a TI1394 driver from Bob Wang at Ulead.
Everything is working.
I used the file convert from AV to DV.
It has to switch codecs frame by frame.
Planning to buy a Fire-wire and Analogue VCR
e.g. little SONY job which has realtime hardware capture of AV to DV tape.
Then we are motoring.
But software conversion is slowish for big files. Just think whats involved in a codec conversion. read expand compress write frame by frame?
