Guys,

I'm having problems installing Fast AV Master 2.5 build24. I removed a previous version from the C: drive prior to re install. Problem is the removal of the previous version has not cleaned down properly, & so when I try to re install the SetUp advises that it can't proceed further until the old version is completely removed. I seem to remember that I have to go into Windows, System & remove certain registry files to clean the DLL & INI files completely out prior to attempting another re install. The old version does not show up under 'control Panel', remove progs, but obviously certai files from the previous installation are still within the windows registry. Can you advise how I clean down the system prior to attempting a re install

Thanks.

The most successful method I have used for cleaning the Registry is, I suppose, the most obvious. I use the 'search' facilty to look for all instances of the words 'Fast' and 'AVM', take a look at each entry and delete as appropriate.

If you have build 24 of the drivers I must have missed a recent update!

Ah, have now been able to access the Dazzle site and have found that build 24 is another update for Win98/msp6.

Ray, how are you old chum? Many thanks for the feed back. In the end I downloaded a copy of RegClean from Microsofts Board site & this did the trick. I've now re installed Fast Build 24. but would you believe it, I,ve still got the problem that I first detailed below on the CV. General Board two days ago......

"I seem to be seeing several members placing queries with regard to MSPro. 6. & Audio sync. Problems. I’ve just upgraded from 5.2 to V6.0, but retained older versions on the hard drive…..[Just in case!] Set up is AMD Athlone 600. Fast AV Master, with the latest Fast/Dazzle driver patches installed for Power Play review. Latest MSPro. Patches also installed.
Project settings :-

PAL (25 fps)
Field Order A
Overlay track(s):3
Microsoft AVI Files
24 Bits, 768 x 576, 25 fps
FAST AV Master MJPEG Codec (32)
Interleave audio for every 1 frames
75% Quality
44,100 Hz, 16 Bit, Stereo PCM
Packed Audio data every 1 Frame

Every time I make alterations to my edite on the time line, then render, followed by power play preview, the audio sync. Appears to vary, very slightly. More puzzling: I have allowed the sound track to exceed the visual by about 4 secs, on the overall end of the project, prior to fading out to finish the audio track & the project. When rendered & previewed the sound track fades & cuts about 2 – 3 secs prior to the end visual titles. In short I’m not getting matching audio sync to audio track visual?????? Very weird. I have been using MSPro. For several years now, version 5.0 to 5.2 & now 6.0. I wonder if this audio problem relates to the fact that MSPro 6. does seem to be developed with a bias toward digital requirements [understandably], & that perhaps there is a genuine problem in getting this version to work flawless using audio settings:-

Interleave audio for every 1 frames.
44,100 Hz, 16 Bit, Stereo PCM
Packed Audio data every 1 Frame

Have any other users of AV Master & MSPro. Experienced similar problems, or is my experience unique?

Richard came back to me on the thread & asked if I had writen an AVI. to hard drive & then played it back with Fast Play, & so I promptly did this with some wierd results! In Power play the audio track played through perfectly, but about two secs. short & mismatched the tiltles. When then recorded to hard drive & then played back it played true to sync. but the last 5 seconds of the audio track were broken & distorted......never have I come across this one before.

So I go back to source the problem:-

Existing video lasting about 7mins edited for a local school, year 11. leaving event. The school comes back & says we are shortly going to have certificate awards, is it possible change the original Video, by changing the front & end titles, & inserting about 18 still photos on transition at the end, prior to closing credits. In short I ended up with film exceeding the old audio track by about 1.5mins. I go along the old sound track, mark out a suitable 1.5min, & then do a copy & paste to the tail end of the closing credits. In fact I overlap the closing credits by around 4 secs. & include a graduated fade to finish. When I Power Play the review, the sound track cuts, abruptly about two secs prior to the end of the closing titles. I also notice that the 'review marker' makes normal progress along the time line until it reaches this point about 4 secs from the end of the audio track, when it hesitates & then suddenly jumps to close.

The only thought I have on this is to do with the way in which I sourced the additional audio, by copy, cut & paste. Perhaps this latest version is simply not happy with this technique. Any thoughts or observations would be appreciated.

Regardless, Season Greetings Ray, & thanks for the 'Feed'.
