I'm having big problems with the Avid Cinema software that came bundled on my computer. No matter what I try I cannot record sound with my video. Before recording I get picture and sound, but the Recording Level Indicators don't light up.
After my attempts at recording I get Video clips which have the purple audio stripe, but playback reveals no audio has been recorded.I've read messages on the Avid Web Site from people with similar problems, and tried out some of the advice given, but I'm still well and truly stuck.I've tried all the various settings for recording and playback, checked recording levels experimented with different inputs. My system is a Mesh 350 Studio Pro (PII),128 RAM,Matrox Marvel G200 AGP,Creative SB live value sound card.
Can you help me please?
Thanks in anticipation,
Colin
Hi,
I had similar problems with my Mesh, I was going crazy, when someone suggested to check the Sound Blaster Live volume when playing back, and sure enough, for some reason every time I went to play back the sound was muted!
I hope this solves your problem, if not I made Mesh give me the new Drivers for the Matrox which solved alot of conflicts.
If you still have problems Email me.
Colin,
I had similar problems - I had a Creative PCI 128 with dual output. I could only hear audio when selecting Auxilary input but I still had problems bringing in video with sound. I swapped the PCI 128 with a Creative ISA card with standard line in and line out from my other machine. Unfortunately having corrected the line-in / line out problem (as per the Matrox user manual) I still had problems when bringing in video.
Finally I checked the matrox web site
http://www.matrox.com/mga/drivers/latest_drivers/home.htm, downloaded the latest windows 98 drivers and the problem disappeared.
Good luck,
Paul
I have also had problems with Avid but not with sound.
Picture out is so dark as to make it unwatchable.I run a cyrix 333 and W98 using a Marvel G200 pci with 64Mb PC100 ram.
I have not been able to get any improvement by toggling the TV out settings.
Can anyone advise?
Colin
I had the same problem with Avid and the
SB Value live! card. If your input is set
to line and the volumes are up on the SB mixer and windows controls (take note the Avid to video tape performance is very low in the volume stakes so bump that volume up when you put your edited work down to tape but beware of distortion. What sounds great played back on the PC may not be so loud or clear on video tape) then take the route paul_marchant advises and update your matrox drivers. If everything else is ok
this will solve your problem but not the
led one but at least you will be able to work with audio. I have yet to suss the led problem.
Good luck
