You had warning! - http://www.dvforums.com/forums/bbc-launch-five-new-hd-channels ;blush Note the comments in post 4 of that thread about being subject to review in 2018 - though I think we may be looking more at "SD turn-off" than any move away from HD versions of channels by then.

HI Infocus

I did say "For those that didn't know about BBC Four and Three etc, HD" LOL

Your post does look familiar now you say cheeky +  the Beeb sneaked HD in on these channels a month earlier than originally announced

Oh well,  two posts are better than none

btw I had to retune my Humax box as it didn't do it automatically, unless it jammed during a update and I pulled the power to  reset it.

Is that because you rely on a 'freeview lite' service from a minor relay, or are you just in an area where part of the 6 allocated UHF channels' bandwidth is used by duplicating services  in welsh?

Freeview light and no chance of the powers that be upgrading, that's why I have Freesat and that's light on Yesterday and Dave

I could be wrong as it has changed a couple of times since DSO but S4C is broadcast in Wales in addition to Channel 4. This takes some of the bandwidth of PSB2, presumably at the expense of some other channel. PSB2 is also one of the multiplexes in the 'Freeview Lite' guaranteed service.

Hi Steve

S4C has it's own output in Welsh nowadays, it used to duplicate some of C4 in the analogue days
My MP is on the case, the fact is rural Mid-Wales only gets 17 out of 50 Freeview channels compared to South Walesangry

I doubt if anything will be done, as the cost is to high to upgrade the relays to transmit the other channels, this is the one downside of living in a low populated area with mountains and lovely views.

Plus poorer broadband (if any) and not many buses. Everything comes at a price.

John,

I have a non-Sky satellite dish attached to my Humex box and therefore I have been able to install all the Freeview channels. Try Maplins for the necessary kit if its an acceptable solution.

Re: BBC Four HD

Hi John

I had my Free Sat via a HumaxFoxSat-HD box for a few years now, I can't get 'Yesterday' which is part of Freeview unless I subscribe to SKY, are you sure you have the Freeview channels including 'Yesterday' and 'Dave'?

I get most of the other Freeview channels and the +1's.

Nadolig Llawen yes

Update, explained here

Re: BBC Four HD

John,

Your right. The channels on Astra 28 are scrambled on non freeview . On Freeview they are nowhere to be seen which is strange. Obviously therefore I must have picked up the missing channels through the basic aerial and the Wrekin transmitter.

Time for me to investigate further. I'll let you know if I find some useful information.
