Has any person had the same problem. 2 inches down from my screen i have a black pencil line go all along my screen.
Would appreciate any feed back. Before contacting the shop.
Thank You.
A bit more information would help, Maxwell!
Such as what type of screen? TV? Computer monitor? Phone? iPod?
Model number? Running software? Watching TV channel? Connection method between screen and whatever's driving it?
Sorry it is the Apple Led Cinema Display 24'. It has a black pencil line all the way across. The rest of the screen is fine.
Do you have either:
(a) a second Mac (or any other computer with a miniDisplay Port) you can use to drive the display, or
(b) another display to connect to your Mac
- to establish if it's the display or computer?
Does changing the display resolution on your Mac make any improvement or changes?
Sounds faulty to me. I don't suppose it's still under warranty?
It could also be a faulty graphics card, don't rule that out. Have you got any other machine you could plug into the screen. If it's still faulty it's the screen, if it's fine it's the first machines graphics card.
Thank you for all the replies. I have no other equipment to test all your solution. I bought the new Mac and screen last October and the warranty has run out.
Still one year and one month should not give me any trouble.
I will get in touch with the people who i bought the equipment from and see what they have to say.
I will keep you posted. Regards what the fault is. I did read last year about problems with the cinema display screen.
Once again thanks for the fast reply. Well appreciated.
Let us know how you get on Maxwell.
With just your existing equipment, you could try the changing screen resolution, as I suggested? Maybe turn it down to 1280 x 800 pixels. The black line will either
(a) stay EXACTLY where it is (if it's a display fault) or
(b) change in character/position if it's a graphics cards problem (and hence the Mac).
(Probably!)
Well i have been out today with my screen to "Fairpoint in Bath and the fault is a first to them.
