Blue screen footage pixely and with floodage when far from subject

When I record in front of my blue screen and I am far away from the subject, or not zoomed in, there is a lot of flooding onto the subject, and the flooding itself looks very pixely. However, when I'm zoomed in, or close, the chroma key is perfect, with perfect cutting around the edge of the subject. I am using a Sony DCR-TRV130, a cloth bluescreen with two halogen lights on either side flooding the screen, and Adobe Premiere with the chroma key effect that comes with it.

What do you suggest to fix this? Is it my camera, my lighting, or my software?
