I need to have a part where a man is putting a ring on a woman's hand.
I want all the part to be in Black & White - except for the ring which I want to leave in it's original Golden color.

How do I do it ???

I can work with Premier 6 and After Efects.
Also with Commotion DV V.3 (not the full version).
Filming is with a professional camera and we are using special light for filming reflectiv surfeses to avoid the Gold reflections.
I can use any type of Blue / Green other color screen as long as I can Build it alone.

I would load the Video into a 3d program as a backdrop the render a 3d Gold ring onto it

The whole idea is to see the original Ring.
This is why we go all the trobles.....

You can do a lot with the 'color pass' filter in Premiere provided you're careful not to have any other colors in the shot too similar to the ring (unfortunately that probably includes skin in this case).

P4-3.06/2GB RAM/2500GB IDE/SATA. Avid Media Composer, Liquid Edition, Premiere 6, Lightwave, Vue 6, eyeon Fusion 5. DV and HDV editing/compositing.

Not much use to you probably, but u can use aura 2 by newtek and physically de saturate every frame manually (airbrush tool)except for the ring that is.

Here's another idea that might work, but takes requires a lot of it...

Make a copy of the original clip, take it into Photoshop (or similar) paint a bright green over the rings in each frame.

Go back to premier, use the transparency-settings IN REVERSE and you will have a clip just containing the rings.

Take this new only-rings-clip put it over the original non-altered-clip. Remove the colours from the original clip and use the transparency-settings once more to impose the gold-rings on top ot the BW shot.

Hope you have a lot of time!

This is about what I am thinking of - if the color pass filter will not work.
I can use Pinnacle Commotion to directly paint on the video files frame by frame. This way I will not have to export each frame out to photoshop or a similar program.

I did some thing like this a while back with MSP6. The shot was a field with poppies in which I wanted to go from B+W to B+W plus red poppy then into full colour - the sequence was from a 2WW battle to modern day, hence the poppy bit. If I remember correctly, I turned the full colour final shot to B+W then picked the then shade of grey of the poppy and altered that to red, increase/decrease saturation gave the required illusion and also let me fade in/out the colour. The lengths you go to editing the family holidays!!!
Hope this helps.
