Hi Everyone,

I'm still using one Sony PD150 - Just lately everytime I switch the Cam on after disconnecting the battery it requires re-setting the clock - beep - commander - audio from 32 to 48 - and record light.

I have tried leaving the battery connected while not in use for day, but to no effect.

Is there an internal Lithium battery inside the camera?

Other than that any ideas please?

Thanks,

ZAK

Yes - it has an internal battery that has failed.

See the pointing hands in this diagram.

PD150's pretty old, so no surprise that the battery has finally died.

Get my test cards document, and cards for 625, 525, 720 and 1080. Thanks to Gavin Gration for hosting them.
Camera settings documents are held by Daniel Browning and at the EBU
My book, 'Circles of Confusion' is available here.
Also EBU Tech.3335 tells how to test cameras, and R.118 tells how to use the results.

Sorry to go off topic, but I note Gavin's service manual extract mentions a "PD-190P". What was that?

Years ago my VX2k suffered the same fate Zak, though I never thought it worth the cost of a tear-down to fit the replacement rechargeable inside the handle. If you swap out batteries quick as a wink (removing the discharged and replacing with a charged one) you may find the camera doesn't revert, and remembers all your audio and PP settings.

On the VX2k I could charge the battery while on the camera, thus arresting its dementia.
