A local Photographer who has been in business for many years (with film)now is thinking about going digital. He knows that I am into this and has asked me if I can purchase and set everything up for him!!!!! I am not that keen to undertake this task, but have already gone through the basics of what is needed with him.

What I would like to find is a sourse that can supply a ready made system all set up. (I am building the computer etc) but, need to get a Printer and Monitor and maybe a Scanner that is all matched up with good quality profiles etc. It is obviously very important to produce the best possible results especially with colour/black & white matching of screen and printer.

I know you can get profiles done, but never seen anywhere that supplies a matched set already to go straight into work.

Any ideas most welcome, all the best, Ron.

FWIW I have the Colorvision Spyder to profile my monitor. Profiling should be carried out on a monthly basis according to the blurb (of course I don't do that  ) and when new video drivers are installed. With this in mind it does not seem likely that you could buy a system already profiled.

The customer may change monitors, add another, change the printer, use different inks etc. etc. so adding to the need to keep the profiles updated making a ready-profiled out-of-the-box system unneccessary.

Talk to Neil Barstow - www.neilbarstow.com or www.colourmanagement.net - he's an ex-photographer turned colour management consultant (poacher turned gamekeeper...) and while he won't supply all the gear he will spend time on-site to profile everything for you/your friend. It may cost your pal a few bob now, but it's far better to have good advise early on than make expensive mistakes.
