Just in the last couple of days I don't appear to be able to start a new paragraph (I'm in rich text) or skip a line using the return key as I would do now to sign my user name robo (probably me being thick as pig whatsits but would like a solution)

line breaks work for me in chrome.

IE 10. As I said, all was fine until a few days ago. The only thing I can think of is that there was a Windows update around the same time (Windows 7) robo

I updated to IE10 last week, on Windows 7 Home Premium edition, so I'll just try it here.... Nope it doesn't work for me either, so I guess it's an IE10 issue

I've also noticed since the IE10 update that the Recent Posts box doesn't remove messages as you read them, if you click on all the posts in Recent Posts, they are all still there until you go to another site then come back here. That again appears to be an IE10 issue, not a forum one, as similar happens on other forums, not based on Drupal either.

can we post from the plain text editor with any sanity?
yes that seems better! I suggest IE users use the plain text editor for the time being, maybe Microsoft will fix these bugs? (instead of providing useless features such as auto capitalization of the word Microsoft !!)

Ahh you can fix the problem by switching into "compatibility mode"..
Click the little icon in the address bar (next to the refresh page button), this should restore normal service.

switching to compatibility mode fixed the new paragraph bug for me
