Colour casts from Minolta Dimage II scanner

I have a Minolta Dimage II 35mm and APS neg/pos scanner but I can honestly
say that I've always been dissapointed with the colour of the scans it
produces. I've tried twiddling with all the settings but the results often
have a nasty greenish tinge, and even Photoshop struggles sometimes to
correct this. Any ideas anyone? Is this scanner known for this? Any help appreciated.

Hi Tom,
I have had the Dual scan and now the Dual scan 2 Usb.I have always been pleased with the results.
I now use it with an excellent software package called "Vuescan" from www.hamric.com.
This software will produce a Tiff and a Jpeg at the same time. Also it has many film type colour corrections built in.Just select
type of emulsion, brand, and film code and it corrects it for you.
Watch out for some older own brand films which can need some fiddly corrections.

I also use VueScan, with an Acer ScanWit, for slide copying and find the colours much truer than other packages.

I bought a Minolta Dimage Scan Dual II 2 weeks ago and have problems. All scans from Kodak slide film are dark and magenta. This can be corrected up to a point in the image software but the initial scan is so far off that the result is very flat with distorted colours.

This is using the Minolta software and Vuescan. I'm thinking that there is something wrong with the scanner and Minolta answered my concerns by saying "Sir, you are now in control of your images, unlike processed films" I don't need that!

Perhaps someone could email me an image from this scanner so I can see how good it is. An uncorrected image please.

Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks
John
