Compact Flash prices

Knowing that I needed an extra 512MB CF for a trip in October, I followed prices earlier in the year but took my eye off the ball recently. Crucial are a pretty good indicator and their prices are rising and rising, another increase this morning. I imagine there is some sort of temporary shortage but does anyone know why?

The 'Crucial Benchmark' is now at £49 for 256MB, though I have obtained some more cheaply elsewhere.

I've bought most of my memory cards (SD and CF) from Mx2.org (http://www.mx2.co.uk/acatalog/MX2_co_uk_Compact_Flash_Cards_293.html)

They are currently £35.90 for a 256Mb, or £84.99 for a 512Mb

When last I called them, there were delays on some lines (maybe lots of people have been buying digicams and then needing bigger cards for holidays ?) but a 512Mb was shipped out after 3 days delay.

Thanks! In the current climate those are good prices, especially the 256MB. I note that on their site they refer to shortages and I imagine it's pretty universal at the moment. I now have 4 x 256MB and that should suffice.

interesting... since smart media prices just keep falling like lead balloons!

7dayshop is another good place to buy, but their 256MB CF cards are also £50...

mark.
