Has anyone else played with this type of thing? I have all the bits apart from the cd player motor, which should be easy! Wish me luck I will post the progress on this thread :)

Hi Craig,
Have a look at this one as well, [url]http://www.jetsetmodels.info/products.htm
and this Youtube link:

I am in the process of having a go as well, and the DIY version is affordable for the hobbyist. I now have nearly all the parts just waiting for some from Daniel. If you need info on where I got some of the parts let me know. A nice little project for this time of year.

Bear in mind that the image isn't a hologram, it's an image like any other. There are quite a few of these things around at present, they work, you lose quite a lot of light (1.25 to 2 stops) but you get the depth of field of the large format lens into the small format camera. The problem, always, is the grain structure of the ground glass on which you form the intermediate image. It produces video noise, and audio noise (the motor).

But they do work.

Get my test cards document, and cards for 625, 525, 720 and 1080. Thanks to Gavin Gration for hosting them.
Camera settings documents are held by Daniel Browning and at the EBU
My book, 'Circles of Confusion' is available here.
Also EBU Tech.3335 tells how to test cameras, and R.118 tells how to use the results.
