i think a second hard drive to capture footage to would be a good idea too.
having your programs , your captured footage and your final edit for dvd all on the same harddrive will be pushing it's read./write capabilities to the limit.

if this is the usb2 version of the device , you are trying to use it on a machine below recommended capabilities. your cpu is only 2/3 of required capability.

i.e.
