I'm about ready to strangle this program. I've been trying to burn a DVD of a finish project for the last few days now but every copy I make has 1-5 second audio lag. I've tried burning within Edition at various speeds and audio qualities, and after realizing that was fruitless I started exporting straight to vobs and tried playing them from my hardddrive, but they still had the same problem. I'm familiar enough with computers, but not at all with DVD authoring. What are some mistakes I might be making here? I've looked around the internet and did some searches in this forum as well, but I've found nothing that has hleped so far.

Oh, and I like the forum. I think I'll stick around.

(the system is probably more than enough to handle it, p4 2.8ghz, 1gig ram, sata harddrive, pioneer dvd burner, windows 2000)

Seems lowing the data rate (as suggested for someone with stuttering audio) worked.

Intersting what data rate were you trying to use to begin with? (and then after?)

I don't know if this will help, I'm not familiar with Edition but had a similar problem in Studio 8 some time ago.
When burning to DVD it has the option of Mpeg audio or pcm audio, if you don't click Mpeg audio then it plays out of sinc. Could be worth a look to see if there is a similar option available?

Hi,

It's always best to defrag your hard drives before out-putting your material, system drive and data drive(s)

But, first of all with Edition it's best to right click on the trash can and empty trash, delete rendered files not used by project and clean up project.

Also, it's good idea to disconnect your PC from the internet then disable any anti-virus and firewall software, this will help with the overall performance.

And reboot and reload LE.

Please remember to enable firewall and anti-virus software before you surf.

When installing XP and LE from scratch, I was told to defrag after each install i.e. after installing XP use the defrag, after installing SP1 defrag, after installing LE defrag, you get the picture.

It was 9 prior, 6 after.

I wasn't using Edition itself to burn, I was exporting the vobs and using Nero to burn 'em. Nero kept erroring out during burns so I've stopped trusting it for the time being.

I have to admit to not running a virus scanner. I havn't since I first started using computers. Net total viruses: 1. (infected myself for fun, once). Firewall for sure, though. But with this system it doesn't impact performance at all. So it seems the data-rate thing was what was doing it, although I couldn't say why yet.
