I hope all this makes sense.
One of my external drives (250GB) has just stopped working & I'm unable to access the info on it.

The drive shows up in "My Computer" but when I try to access it I get the message
"error performing inpage operation"

Have I now lost everything on it or is there anything else I can try?

Thanks in advance.
PJ.

you could try running partition magic which can 'undelete' and 'unformat' a partition that goes for a walk.

what make of drive / housing , and connection type ?

It's a Seagate Barracuda 7200 in a Gerricom caddy & it connects USB.
I've tried the drive in a different caddy with the same result.

You can even check the drive, live, on-line, without having to switch off the computer!

Thanks for the advice.
My brother has a program called "easyrocovery" or something similar (I'll find out exactly)
which managed to recover all the files onto another hard disc. It's absolutely brilliant, we couldn't even open up the disc to look at the folders nebver mind the actual files but this program has recovered the lot & probably saved me about a week of work.

Thanks again,
PJ.
