hi,

I have a AV master and tried to convert a fast-codec rendered movie to a MPEG2 movie. I have used Ligious and panasonic. The results are rather bad. Is there anyone who knows which is the quickest and best way to convert to MPEG2.

Which program do I have to use? Is it possible to use virtualdub, I mean just install a MPEG2 codec and use virtualdub to convert? Up until know I converted Fast-codec movies to divx format with virtualdub and the quality is just excellent.

thx

Hi Joeri,

i'm using TMPGenc with perfect results not far away rom DVD.

For tips I recommend this SVCD page and forum: http://www.edv-tip.de/docs/einstiegsseite_svcd.htm

It's german but for me it's simply the best.

With TMPG you may produce MPEG2 streams that can be burned to a normal CD (SVCD-standard).
These SVCDs are playable on (most) standard DVD-players (nor for divx)!!!

thanks Thomas for your information. But I' still have a few questions. first of all I have tried several of settings to encode to MPEG2 but the result isn't that good at all. I know that maybe these settings are explained in the site you forwarded me but my German isn't that good. Now I was wandering if you could give me the settings you use to encode. size, aspect ratio, rate control mode, bit rate, encode mode, ...
And second, I downloaded a trail version so after 30 days my mpeg2 license will expire. Do you know where I can buy such al license?

thx
