Aspect ratio playback

Playing back DVD`s that I have made with Vegas and DVD Architect, are 4x3 Pal 720x576. But they playback wide screen.

Neither the 20 inch Panasonic TV, or Panasonic BD75 player has any option to change the aspect. But the Samsung 40 inch TV has. But it`s a manual option.

Commercial DVD `s will automatically play 4x3 on both, so can anyone explain why this happens please?

I have the box un-ticked in Vegas, where it says “Stretch to fill screen” and I can`t see any other boxes.

Hello,

I've been creating review discs in Encore which I am finding very helpful to sit back, relax, and fine tune my edit after watching on a big screen.

AFter making several important changes, I believe I have one more review in me before I finish up on my project, so I'd like to create the best DVD possible for this. So far I have been using the standard settings in Encore and the discs are coming out... in not brilliant quality and a little rough around the edges.

Client commented on how "soft" the DVD of their commissioned video looked compared to the version on Vimeo (720p). She said how, at a recent networking event, she'd been given a thumb drive with video on by one person where everyone else was handing out DVDs. She's going to send it to me to have a look at. I've just asked my replicator for pricing for USB drives, but I was wondering if anyone here's been doing this, and what the pros and cons are.

Copying a DVD containing 7.26GB

A colleague has brought to me a DVD to copy. Whilst the content is ‘average’ it has been created in Encore with 18 chapters in English and the same in German. It’s all legal to copy so I have tried two programmes but the copy failed because there is not enough room on a blank DVD. Looking at the disc content I note that the disc contains 7.26GB.

First Play in Encore CS6

Just getting to grips with Encore CS6 and creating DVD. I have managed the menu and three buttons. I have set the menu to be ‘First Play’ and this it does in the preview. However, when the created disc (RW) is placed in my domestic DVD player the menu doesn't appear as expected, just a blank screen. If I press the ‘menu’ button, the menu appears, but if I press ‘Play’ then the programme starts without showing the menu.

Hi Guys.

Have a show that lasts just over 3 hours. I can fit it on single layer disk in encore, but should I use

dual layer. Will it improve the quality due to less compression.

Will customer see the difference, and any compatability problems with dual layer?

Creating DVD's

I have an edit saved on a NLE I would like to sell through eBay, self distribution. I have never done this before, so please bare with me.

I was planning on mastering onto large DigiBeta (which I always do). What is the process from there in creating a retail DVD - something of quality. Could anybody reccomend any firms in London (or perhaps somebody here does it?).

What Automated Printer?

Having just spent a fair wedge of money with Copytrax just before christmas on my Picasso printer, today they tell me they no longer fully support this machine - Epson no longer make them. If they would have told me a month ago I wouldn't be so p*****d with them now.

So, the question I have, is what audomated printer do you recommend?
