am i missing something?

Colleague showing me his FCPX

I noted that his audio clips in "event browser"? were showing higher on audio meters when played in browser, than in timeline.

We recorded a tone at -16db on a Tascam deck and plays at -16 via browser but at -21 on timeline...

Should he be worried/ change a setting somewhere? or as long as it sounds ok (adjusted if necessary), it is ok....?

Anyone downloaded and installed Yosemite? Wondered because I'm having problems with Maverick with neither Save to burn nor Compressor to burn is producing good quality videos. Stuttering, sound fade and loss at times. Absolute rubbish. Info on the Net says others are suffering too but not everyone (?) so anyone here got the same problems or gone over to Yosemite?

Serial No for FCP 6 - can't find.

My main drive in my 2006 MacPro has gone down and in seeking to use FCP 6 backed up on another drive I find that Apple is demanding the serial number and I can't find it even though they say it is in the packaging which I still have. There are three numbers on the bottom of the black box containing the books but none of them are accepted by Apple. Also, the Discussion Forum in Apple for FCP 6 is apparently barring fresh entries after about 2011 Anyone? T.I.A.

Is there a software which will let you convert edited video in FCP10.1.2 for playing on DVD Player? The only one which is working for me are the ones burned with the info on the burned disk saying "UNIVERSAL DISK FORMAT (UDF).
I have a Bigasoft Total Video Converter can find the setting to use.
I guess I need to upgrade my DVD Player: Dansai DVD 852.....DVD/VCD/CD/MP3 Player.

Hope everyone had a nice holiday. I need help getting a large (2.3GB) .wmv file into iMovie for editing and burning. Video work I do is rather simple. Underwater inspections. Nuthin fancy DVD's to accompany printed reports.

Is FCPX workflow going to be familiar to a dedicated FCS user?

I would like to return to editing on a Mac after a three year sabbatical.
Mostly I edit documentary footage shot on AVCHD in 1080p from a Canon and GoPro waterproof cams, assembled in the time line with straight cuts and a few dissolves, colour correction, audio tweaks and titles, all pretty basic stuff really and output to the web.
It seems the world has changed since I was last editing on FCS on a Powermac with new Macs and new software all of which are unfamiliar territory.

Would anyone like to comment on the time it takes for editing a (roughly) 45 minute film with simple transitions here and there and a minimum of titling beginning and ending - and what settings/system parts are commonly used? T.I.A.
