Recording audio from Skype (commentary)

Hello,

I will be doing a commentary track with somebody over Skype. What will be the best way to record the audio, does anybody have any actual experience on recording Skype conversations for projects? I have a set of headphones / mic from Maplins which plugs directly into my PC. In regards to software, I have software which records whatever audio is coming into the system - but is there anything a little more polished that anybody has used?

College and News Radio audio assistance please

I wonder if you can help. I don't know if I need one product with many accessories or two separate products......I'll explain.....

My son is a media student who is using antiquated equipment at college. The boom they are using is hit and miss and more often than not the audio isn't being recorded with the video, resulting in them losing work and dubbing over post production. Not ideal.

Hey all,

I produce live events and often find myself doing sound as well as video mixing to keep costs down - and I'm definitely not a sound man but was hoping for some guidance from you lot!

I have a number of audio inputs: Commentators (x2), Feed from a desk (music/MC) and ambience microphone.

I tend to find that the music/MC remains reasonably constant throughout and very rarely have to fiddle with the levels.

I bring down ambience when the MC talks or when the music is going - which isn't too hard...

Would fixing loud and distorted audio be possible?

Hi guys!

My sister got married this very weekend, they had already hired a photographer so I thought of bringing my camera and trying to snatch a picture of her, anyway, and I ended up recording a song the broom sang that had some story regarding them both. Sadly I am not a professional and didn't realise that even though the video was looking fine, the loud music and close speakers would later destroy the audio's recording.

I have asked this question before and there was a reply..but I don't remember what the reply was ...

I have a Samsung UE40ES6300 3D TV and when I plug in the headphones, the TV speakers are turned off.

Question..Will the speakers still be turned off if I make a connection via the Digital Audio Out (Optical) socket ??

Hi folks, been busy lately and not needed you educated folk as things been working pretty good! However a minor issue we had this week has been a certain audio file that when rendered and finalised onto DVD the audio level has been very low when playing back. All other stuff has been fine except for this particular audio file. One suggestion has been that the "fullness" of the audio track hitting 0dB affects the Dolby set up to reduce the output level. A solution has been to reset the audio to work on MPEG 1 Layer 2 or even PCM and watch the audio levels manually.

Radio Mic frequencies for live sound

Hi everyone,
Can I ask for assistance from you audio experts on radio microphones, frequencies & licencing.

I look after the sound for a small Baptist chapel, and we have had for some years a 110V line amplifier, speakers and originally fixed mics. We then added a couple of Shure VHF radio mics, and 3 years ago replaced these with 2 Sennheiser Freeports (1 clip on & 1 hand held). These were set for the unlicensed UK band (I was very careful not to use licenced frequencies without a licence, in fact some people thought I was overly paranoid about it).

Suggestions for excellent studio headphones, please

Yes, looking for suggestions for excellent studio headphones, please.

Noise isolation isn't a big requirement, but comfort and accuracy are important. I prefer over the ear headphones to on-ear ones. I find the Sennheiser HD-25s I use when shooting aren't comfy for long editing sessions. I've also a pair of DT-150s but likewise I don't find them comfortable to wear for long periods.

Your suggestions welcome!
