Hi we all went home for xmas to stay with my family, I thought would visit fradley canal as We hadn't been there in ages.
The weather was perfect apart from the cold.
cheers John
Beautifully framed shots there John and nice light. Early evening?
Hi Branny, no early morning. The light was that lovely golden colour for a short time.
Just very cold, camera shake was an issue due to me shaking:D
Thanks for the comments, its apreciated as always.
I travelled back to scotland a few days later leaving at 0415 so i could stop at the lake district in time for the sun to come up. that was beautiful too but even colder I found myself standing with 4 photographers at the end of ullswater at 0730 am and it was -8 centigrade. brrr things we do to get the shot eh.When i get time i will post some of the shots.
cheers john
Hi Harrier, That was wonderful. Great colours, music etc etc. So relaxing...you should sell it to stress management classes.
Can I ask what camera kit and recording medium you used?
Regards
Hi Harrier, again.
That website you used (exposureroom.com) also has a great look and feel to it.
It has a very pleasing and easy to use layout. I ike the Low, Md and HD option buttons.
Regards,
Ricky
Hi it was filmed with a stock Canon XH-A1 using 25p 1/50 shutter recorded onto sony hdv tape. preset was pana look.
captured using ciniform hd and edited with vegas 8 pro.
It was colour corrected using magic bullet looks within vegas and encoded for web using sorenson squeeze5.
Thanks for the positive comments. John
Hi Ricky, yep I like exposure room I think it looks more pro than vimeo IMHO (waits for the flack to fire:D )
Thanks for the feedback.
It's quite amazing how quickly web video technology has gone from postage stamp sized, grainy, jerky little things to a full screen, reasonable quality viewing experience.
Regards,
Ricky
I enjoyed that. Well done!
Thanks Mike
You are very welcome.
Although I kept wishing that the gatekeeper, or whatever he was, would ignore the camera! I hate when that happens!
Beautiful for sure. It looks a lot clearer than the day I filmed there for "Crossroads". It was terribly overcast with an almighty gale blowing at times. It became stormy a little later. Great footage Harrier.
Thank you, yes I was very lucky with the weather, just pure chance.
cheers john

Try watching again - He may ignore it the next time you watch :D
nope, he just did it again.:D
What gatekeeper! did I miss him, he must have gone....
Very nice to watch. Some nice framing and colour grading.
Thx.:)
Flame.

I think he meant the chap who was with the boat 'rosewood' (he operated the lock)
A very nice couple indeed, they took a business card so they could watch it on the internet.
Thanks for the positive comments.

Did you use a preset in Magic Bullet looks? If so, which one, as the grading is beautiful. Also just a general question. If you have Sony Vegas 8 pro, why do you use Sorrenson squeeze for the web encoding? Does it produce noticeably better results?.
Btw, I have just seen the Lake District footage. Wow. There are some truly stunning shots
Hi I used one called 'buffalo' for the fradley junction, tweeked slightly but not much.
I like magic bullet as it gives you a great starting point.
Thanks for comments about Ullswater, i was really pleased with how it came out, worth the cold stand.:D
cheers John
