Has anyone got any advice about a decent WebHosting company - its for a fairly major project. They also need to Host/House some IBM servers on site.
I presume you rent space for this sort of deal.
not sure abotu the ibm servers but fasthosts.co.uk/ are very good. there support is very good as well
Thanks, but I've had problems with them, in my DVC days.
Hi Richard,
This thread may help ( I use 1&1 who I'm happy with).

Can't comment on IBM aspect.
As your post is in the 'Streaming video' forum, is that a key requirement?
Web site traffic costs/limitations are not as significant as a few years ago, but if you have thousands of viewers hitting big files on your site for download/stream, then the technical capability and cost need to be factored in. I can't speak for 1&1 in this regard, but they are good at answering the phone for queries.

If you're having servers on site, internet connection that's fast enough, then effectively it's a small step to doing your own hosting?
Thanks for your help guys, it was for a customer of mine, who needed a company that would collocate IBM hardware.
They found someone independantly and I'll post who it is when I find out.
Hi Richard, hope all is well.
After many years of having our own server on site we have just changed over to a dedicated server through BT which costs £65 per month, it's lightning fast and saves us having to pay for a phone line and additional ADSL line as well as the power 24/7. Reliability is much better as well.
Strangley enough BT are selling on behalf of Mistral who sell the same package for £124 a month??
Although the £65 is a good deal for our requirements it wouldn't be economical if we required more capacity, I understand that Germany offers the best deals for high capacity, about £75 PM compared to £400 PM from BT.
I should add that IT knowledge of Linux/Unix or Windows based servers is required.
