After weeks of waiting I finally got my IBM 25gb drive yesterday.

Installed in 10 minutes, worked first time, and is incredibly quick.

For anyone thinking of getting a drive in the next few months then I would seriously consider checking this out.

Multimedia Direct (recommended by Mr Ferrick) sell the drive for £305, and they should now (finally!) be in general supply. You don't get anything other than the bare drive and some screws, but all the information you need is printed on the top and back of the unit. For those needing more extensive instructions you can download them from IBM's website.

Now all I have to do is fit the DV300 that I got with it. I somehow doubt that will be as simple. A job for the weekend.

When you do get your DV300 installed, can you please post the results of the miro expert hard drive tests. I have been considering buying one and would really like to hear some test results before I lay out the cash.

Please see my other posting elsewhere on this board for more information.

I've not used DVExpert before, instead I have used DSKBENCH. However the result produced was 14.5Mb/s.

Everything seems to work fine, and although I haven't got a clue what I am doing I don't seem to suffer from any dropped frames (accourding to Premiere) and have already produced a couple of (very short) test movies which looked as good as the originals.

I couldn't ne more impressed with the IBM drive, the only (slightly) worrying thing about it was that it seems to have been made to fit in my system upside down....
