Thinking of buying a refurb one of these, does anybody run Final Cut Express 4, if so would be grateful for some feedback

We have an Imac 27, dual core, with 4gb ram and an external fw drive. Whilst nowhere near as capable as our Mac Pros, it performs edits perfectly well in Final Cut Studio 3 (FCP7).

Have put my sensible head on & decided to get a box of "bits" and build my own i5 machine instead with 8gb ram & windows 7 64bit. you can crank the Lynfield i5 to 4ghz easily. Performance wise it will blow the imac away, but I would have just loved that screen! Still, I'm over a grand in pocket with the decision to stay PC

Just make sure the finished product will do the job. It seems you are in the know of what you are doing.
For serious video work "Apple" Final Cut Pro is your software. Yes PC's software also perform the task.
You need to visit some people who use FCP and see what it does.
Good luck with your building of the machine.
