Can anyone please recommend a RELIABLE inkjet printer? Required to print text - on paper AND print text and pictures on discs,

The main problem appears to be printing on discs.

A EPSON Photo PX730WD was tried, (although warned about that on this forum). Refund from PC World.

That printed fine on discs, but soon suffered a paper jam that could not be resolved. Replacement not available.

Next - Canon Pixma MG 6350.Still have the third replacement (Amazon).. Slow  at times and unreliable for disc printing.. Ink thirsty.

Another Epson (60?) tried. Transport agasin failed within three months use..Tesco refund.

The above were replacement for a very reliable CANON i865 that had lasted at least six years.

Re: Inkjet Printers

I've been using an Epson P50 for printing direct to disk for over a year now.

Most problems I found were down to the disk surfaces.

Now using JVC

(Taiyo Youden) disks and not had any problems.

Currently using a Canon iP7250, mostly for discs, occasionally DVD case inserts when my Brother Laser printer goes blonde & find it fine!

Re: Inkjet Printers

Many thanks for those postings .I use an assortment of discs,

The present Canon is expensive on Ink and has just had a problem again..

All cartridges were new. Two inks were blocked. (Black & Yellow)..

After many deep cleans Yellow is back again but two cartridges now need replacing..

This has happened quite a few times regardless of using Canon or compatible cartridges..

The best result has been with compatible cartridges - recommended on this forum.

Hi Les, Ink doesn't have to be there are other options other than Canon's.  I have used this supplier's compatible cartridges on a Canon MX850 and an iP4800 since I bought them new nany years ago and never had any problems.  Check out their site here:

Good prices and delivery service.

Hope you are well.

Thanks for all the constructive advice. Perhaps my luck will change.

The Epson Stylus P50 looks good, (Currently at Amazon £174).

Do you use the continuous ink system Mike?

If so, is it at all messy?

If they work OK for you Mike, can you please advise which supplier, or would you rather not?

Re: Inkjet Printers

My Epson RX625 has finally given up the ghost after 5 years l suppose. Not bad for just under fifty quid, and it's printed a lot of discs.  I'd like to stay with Epson so that the print CD programme will easily reprint my designs from the past, so what's available from Epson today? Any recommendations from you guys?

Do l have to have a model with WiFi, LCD screen and scanner? Can't l simply have a basic printer that happens to print CDs and DVDs? I print very few photographs.

I see there's an Epson XP615 for about £82. Anyone tried it?

Re: Inkjet Printers

I've just bought an Epson XP625 and so far the print quality is very good, although I haven't tried a disk yet.  Another good thing is how little space it takes up - bearing in mind it's replaced my scanner as well.  The only criticism I have is that opening up the various flaps before you can do even the most straightforward job is a bit of a faff but I'm getting used to it!

I paid £99 at Argos; I think the only difference between it and the 615 is a faster scan speed (!)

I'll try a disk and let you know...

Re: Inkjet Printers

Thanks for your input Derek .. and do you know if the XP625 you bought is replacement for the Epson XP615? The are going for £81 on Amazon.

If the only difference is a faster scan speed, I can live without that. If there are more differences, where can I  find them listed?

Correction: I have an XP620 - this is the black version.  All versions ending in 0 are black, those ending in 5 are white!  Interestingly, Currys say XP625 is replacement for XP610.  Therefore, it seems XP625 is replacement for XP615!  Click the link for a good write up of XP615...

Yes Tom, well sort of.

The CISS ink containers are stood next to the printer and, fed into the cartridges, I thought you had seen mine?
