Hello.
My friends son graduates from university in July this year, and they have been told that the event will be available for watching on the internet.
Would it be possible to download this to my PC, and using Pinnacle Studio 9+ or Ulead DVD Workshop 2 burn a DVD for playing on a stand alone DVD player.

Regards, David

Hi David,

The event may be covered in 3 ways:
1)'Livecast' - that is - as the event happens, perhaps via webcam.
2)Viewable at a later date via 'download'.
3)Viewable at a later date via 'stream' .

If the answer is 1), this is somehting I don't have experience of, but probably depends on what software you have on your pc to capture for future use.

For 2), this is the easiest - often several options are available, for broadband/modem users etc. These events can take several hours, so I'd guess they would slice it up into sections (by subject etc) or you would have massive downloads.

For 3), streaming means you watch the video as it plays. As to whether a file is created for future use, I couldn't say - there may be one produced, hidden in a 'temp' directory, or you may need specific software to capture it - this is something I don't normally do, so can't be any more specific.

If it's one 'for the album' the organizers may provide a high quality version on DVD - probably for a fee. Try emailing their website administrator, to see how it will be distributed - he/she may have a high quality source.

Hi Dave,
Thank you for your reply.
I have not downloaded from the internet before so I would be grateful if you could take me through the procedure.

Kind Regards, David
