Hello everyone,

I've just launched a website directory of video professionals called Find a Video Pro. At some point in the future I'll be charging for listings but not until it's reasonably well populate and I've done the necessary SEO work on it.

If anyone reading this would like a free lifetime listing, please just go to the site, click 'Add a business now', sign up and then fill out your business details. You can upload your logo and other relevant images, and if you email us a Vimeo link of your showreel we'll even embed it into your listing. You can also get your customers to leave you a review and rate your service out of five.

You can put as much or as little information in your profile as you wish and you can log in and edit it at any time. Thanks in advance and please feel free to email me any questions.

Regards,

Nick Jones

no Barry, you need to insert an 'o' into 'video' for the address.

Sorry Barry, my mistake! Not very good for someone who proofreads for a living, eh?

I've fixed the link now.

Hi Maxwell. Like most other directories, including the big boys like Yell and FreeIndex, anyone is free to add a listing on Find a Video Pro and it's the advertiser's responsibility to promote themselves honestly and truthfully. This may mean that some advertisers will offer cheap rates and may lack the professionalism, quality and experience that others offer, but ultimately you get what you pay for and if the end user is disappointed by the work carried out by the videographer, they have the power to say so in the form of a review. True cowboys who provide a poor service probably won't want to risk being listed on the site for that reason. The system seems to be working well for my other directory site, Find a Proofreader, which has been running for several years now.

I hope that answers your question.

That's quite a specific request. There is a video editing category and you can add as much detail about the specific services you offer, both in the description and also in the tags. That way, when people search using the search bar for anything specific like 'Final Cut Pro', you'll appear in the results.

I hope that's helpful.

So why can't I look at the site without having to accept a cookie?

Pretty much all websites use cookies. The EU has a new directive in place which means websites must inform users that cookies are in use. Hence the sudden appearance of such messages on lots of websites.

Using the web without accepting cookies is almost impossible.

Yes, I've added a cookie warning because technically it's illegal not to do so. It's annoying, I know!
