Hi guys and gals, ok i bought this nice retro camcorder on the basis of the tape system catching tape, wrong! I was conned, the tape mechanism is fine, the unit though is faulty and i wonder if anyone could throw me in the right direction.
The viewfinder and the lcd display along with any recording and playback on pc is lacking the blue channel information, only red and green showing, this tells me it could be the ccd or blue channel feed from it? Am i correct?
It would be a shame to throw it, it's a nice piece of kit, although modern camcorders out gun in every respect, they simply don't look the part.
So, i will have a go at dismantling and hopefully it's a ribbon cable fault or something similar, but again, am i barking up the wrong tree?
Thank you in advance :)
you could try digiservice
they offer a fixed price with free estimate.
You pay return postage or have it fixed.
Thanks for the reply Dave, i will look them up.
I realise it seems a little cheeky joining a forum to ask a technical question, but i'm at my wits end with this one.
I've just started videography and post editing, love it! And have filled a stock footage page already, if i was really a cheeky fellow i would put the link in here lol, but i'm here to learn also , thanks again.
I've always found AV audio visual in Nottingham good value, especially for JVC kit.
Thanks Branny, i think the plan is to wait a while and see if same model pops up on ebay, if no luck then i'm going in, with the screwdriver :)
If I were you I'd send it off for estimate, costs so little for a specialist to check out and it may be a simple fix. Notts AV know their JVC onions!
It's pretty old, any repair may be worth more than the camera.
