Question aimed at Liquid users, what authoring software are people using to create Blu-Ray discs? My first thought was Adobe Encore in CS4 but before shelling out hard earned dosh & risking a battering by `er indoors I thought I`d pose the question.
Ideally, I`d like to be able to create discs comprable or better than that which I currently do within Liquid by authoring off of the timeline.
Thanks in anticipation :-)
I know peeps using DVD Architect
Hi Barry,
I started a thread about this on the Pinnacle/Avid Liquid forum a few months ago. The most promising response was "TMPGEnc Authoring Works". There's a free trial version available, and the full package is only about $100. It sparked quite a good discussion. I've not bitten the bullet and bought a BluRay burner yet, but with write-once Ritek discs around £1.20 now, the time is rapidly approaching. BTW, APR are advertising Pioneer burners again, so looks like someone else is importing them now (Pioneer Europe stopped this summer - see other thread).
HTH - let us know what you discover!
Thanks Mark! LewS posted in reply to my post the same as this saying exactly the same. I also asked whether having imported a file into TMPG you could then create either a Blu-Ray or DVD & his reply was AFAIK!
When I replaced an edit suite last year from DVC I had a LG Blu-Ray burner installed so maybe I should try it.
A couple of people that responded to my thread said they had successfully burned both DVD and BluRay versions of the same project from the same "fused" master using AW v4, and that the quality of the DVD was better than the same thing written from AL7.2. I'm not surprised at this, since TMPGenc has been the leading (affordable) MPEG encoder for years.
What will you play your BluRay discs on? Just the edit PC or do you have a player with your TV? If so, what is it and what's it like?
Havn`t got a Blu-Ray player yet! Maybe I can buy a standalone Panny one courtesy of the business :-) Got to be able to offer the facility to my clients. My Panny E20 has earned it`s keep many times over, just done over 23 hrs of VHS to DVD :-)
