Loss of Audio

The normal setup is:
The whole Premiere window displays on monitor one. A larger edit picture displays on monitor two using the Matrox MX02 Mini box HDMI-Out connection. The Matrox box is now removed.

Now editing a MiniDV tape (SD). Picture to second monitor is enabled at Edit-Preferences-Playback. Capture and video are fine.

Audio can be seen to be working in the Premiere window but no sound is heard..

Can someone please advice me what is probably a setting or connection problem?

Re: Loss of Audio

Maybe this is something you have to change in the preferences?

Try Edit-preferences-audio hardware and make sure that the Adobe Desktop Audio is set to your computer's sound and NOT to the MX02

Re: Loss of Audio

Many, many thanks for the reply Mark. That setting is correct.

Usually (with Matrox box) the Audio is via a jack connection  at the side of the second screen - an LG Monitor that duals as a TV.

When Matrox connected the HDMI-out connection from the Matrox MX02Mini Box is to the LG monitor HDMI connection.

As the Matrox box is not now being used the LG HDMI is now connected to the mini HDMI on the computer graphics card.

"Playback" setting has enabled a second display of the Premiere Edit screen on the LG monitor.

Video is fine but no audio - although the audio can be seen working on the Premiere screen

I hope this helps explain the problem. Connection or Setting incorrect?

Re: Loss of Audio

Maybe audio does not (or cannot) get fed out of the HDMI output on your graphics card?

Yes,

I would assume that the audio is not available through the computer's HDMI (DVI with converter?

I run a samsung TV/Mon via DVI>HDMI as a client monitor and have never bothered to see if the audio comes through, but I would doubt it.
The audio would be pretty poor anyway.

I run the audio through a set of powered monitors.

On a Mac, you can set the "audio follow video" or to go somewhere else.
You can also fiddle with the latency to get it back into sync if the TV takes few frames.

Haven't used Prem since 1.5 though

Re: Loss of Audio

Problem finally resolved. It appears (to me);

When a message was accepted asking if settings should be changed to match the sequence a setting changed

in ASIO (or is AS10? Never sure). Selecting the  "Speakers" line was the cure. (Last (5th) line on my setup).
