I need to convert a MKV to a MOV on a Mac.
Can anyone suggest some good software?

Take a look at "Bigasoft Total Video Converter". I use it for all of my video work and more.

You could also use MP4 tools (free version) to convert an MKV TO an mp4 which you can edit with directly, or rewrap the mp4 to a mov using quicktime pro.

not sure if it would work but MpegStreamclip is good for conversions
