"Not Rendered" error message on export from FCP4

I used to get this message with FCP2 and FCP3 sime time ago, when trying to export from the timeline to do a Quicktime Conversion (to generate MPEG-2 files). Needless to say, doing a "Render All" didn't stop this message. :(

I am getting the message now again with FCP4, and I can't for the life of me remember how I used to dealt with it. I recall there was a simple (and obviously "non-obvious") fix! Can anybody help please?

Hi
I had more or less the same sort of error today doing an Edit To Tape to my deck (to get the timecode starting exactly at 01:00:00:00). What the error box said about the bars and tone I had put onto the timeline at 00:58:00:00 was in effect 'unrecognized codec, nest these items to continue'. So I made a Nest of the bars/tone and black slug, and got it all to work.

Maybe nesting the problem section (making sure you mixdown the audio of any nests) might do the trick...

I remembered how to fix this! - delete FCP Prefs - doh! Again!

Thanks, Apple. That should be a menu selection in FCP.
