As well as the fantastic TM 900 I also have a AG-HMC 151 which has given me trouble free service for the last 2 1/2 years.
I have altered the settings in the various "scene files" via the menu to give me a few more shooting options such as better recording in low light and a higher dynamic range.
As an extra I have a Sennheiser MK 66 mike and also an Rode NT2 within a Blimp and Wombat.
So if any other users has tips or tricks for this camcorder please feel free to post.
My first request is for information, I have done a hunt on the net for a foam windshield that I can fit to the built in mike but I cannot find anything, its dimensions are 50mm x 25mm x 35mm with the 35mm being the depth of the hole that there would be in the foam.
Does anyone know where I can obtain a suitable wind shield?
Hi Colin..would really appreciate if you could give me your picture settings for the 151
Does anyone know where I can obtain a suitable wind shield?
Cut the front end off a normal shield and elastic band it to the mike . . . ?
Picture profiles
On the back of the 151 there is the scene file selector dial, it is labelled F1>F6.
Each of these has a group of different camcorder seetings programmed for different shooting styles and conditions. F1 is general daylight, F2 is flourescent..to..F5 & F6 which are both Cine like.
See page 86 of the manual for details of each setting that can be changed.
You may also like to hunt for the Panasonic manual "Professional Scene File Settings" which is a PDF
Now for me I do not use the cine presets so I have set up F5 as Low Light and F6 as the High dynamic range for Daylight use.
Richard posted the settings in another threqd but I have copied them here
F6 DYNAMIC DAYLIGHT
Detail Level 0 for 1080i -2 to for 720p ‘film look’ NB (Alan says -4)
Vertical Detail level -2 for 1080i 0 720p Film
Detail Coring +2
Chroma level 0
Chroma Phase 0
Gamma HD Norm
Knee Mid (90%)
Matrix Norm1
F5 Low Noise LOW LIGHT settings
detail level -4
v detail 0
detail coring +7
chroma level -1
chroma phase 0
master ped -13
a iris level +2
gamma - b.press (least noise)
knee - high
matrix norm1
skin tone dtl
Use the F1 to F6 preset you want, make a note of each existing setting for future reference.
Assume you follow my example and using F5 and F6
Set dial to F6, press MENU and the first item is SCENE FILE, for DYNAMIC DAYLIGHT go through it and change the settings, rename it and exit.
Set dial for F5 and repeat for the LOWLIGHT setting
Thanks Ron, the problem is finding a big enough windshied that I can use, the 151's is 50mm wide x 25mm high and will require a 30mm deep hole

Hi colin thanks for the settings, do the items that are not mentioned in your settings need to be set at 0
I have a copy of the PDF file issued by Panasonic "Professional Scene File Settings" which relate to the presets F1 to F6.
It is not readily accessible on Panasonic's web site, I had to do quite a lot of digging before I found it.
PM me with your e-mail address if you would like me to forward a copy to you
Well I went into a local music instrument shop and asked if they had any windshields, £2 lighter I walked out with one for a mike 50mm diameter.
So I now have a foam windshiled available to fit to the 151, but that raised another problem, when in auotmatic white balance mode the sensor is located in the middle of the microphone and hence it will be shielded when I use it with the windshield fitted.
Hi Everyone,
I hope I am posting in the right place! Apologies if not.
I am encountering some issues with my Panasonic 151, when recording the sound has quite a bit of delay, but when i check the footage it sounds good. I tried different mics, cables, switch CH, and all settings are the same as my other 151 and it works just fine.
Has anyone encountered this issue before?
Kind Regards,
Miguel
Have you tried the menu option "AV OUT SETUP" then "HP MODE" ? This can be either "LIVE", or "RECORDING" which has a slight delay.
