Premiere 4.2 lockup with Adaptec DVSoft

Having recently installed an Adaptec 8920 card, I am
having trouble getting Premiere 4.2 to load. It starts
to load, but locks up with the logo box displayed in
the middle of the screen, and INITIALISING MS VIDEO
"DVSD" in the bottom left corner where the filenames
flash up during loading. I have got it to run a
couple of times by uninstalling and then re installing
but as soon as the pc has been rebooted it locks again.
I have put Premiere 5.1 on and it works perfectly,
with DVsoft settings available in the new project
settings box. I'm new to 5.1, but have used 4.2 for
ages with a MIRO DC20 which is still installed and
happilly resides with the firewire card and is
available in the 5.1 presets. Capture etc seems
ok on both cards . DVDECK is the 8945 version 1,3,1,5
and I have version 1,3,0,29 of wn1394.vxd
I'm really frustrated as i prefer to use 4.2 but iam
sick of having to use ctrl-alt-del (usually twice )
to regain use of the pc.
Any ideas??
