Hi,

I'm trying to make a master copy of a short film on HDV using the 'Print to video' option. I'm using my sony v1 as the deck. For some reason, after it has conformed the HDV, it starts recording but the either stops completely, or records then stops then records and so on...in a stuttery manner. Has anyone come across this? I've printed to video before using the same setup and it was fine. If anyone can help I'd really appreciate it.

Thanks.

Where's the data? - System drive or external (FW400 or FW800?)?

How long is the video?

Machine? - RAM?

If you export a ref movie, will this play in QT?

Sorry for the late reply. I'll check the settings as specified in that thread dvnam thanks. Fox- it's all on internal hard drive, I'm using a macbook pro, 2gb ram, 2.33ghz processor, only got 6 gig left on the hard drive so don't know whether that is having an effect? It exports and plays fine in QT and is 10 mins long. I have a feeling it's the length that's causing the trouble because when I tried printing only a few secs of it to tape, it recorded perfectly.

Cheers.

If you can export it to QT and it plays fine, create a new FCP project, import the QT and try to lay that off.

You should not be using your internal drive for HD as well as OSX system operations - Get an external FW!

Edit:

The specs on your Mac give the internal drive as a 5400RPM, if this drive is nearly full, that's where i suspect your problems are.

Get the Kona HD test software (Direct link) - you don't need to be using a Kona card to use it, and see what performance your hard drive is giving you.
