Hi,
I am editing with Adobe Premiere 6 and when I automate to sequence the audio on my clips on the timeline only shows one channel. If I manually drag a clip from the project window to the time line all 8 channels of audio appear. I am shooting in UDF mode 422 at 50mbs/sec. There has to be a setting I'm missing. There HAS to be a lot of people shooting with a Sony PMW-200 and editing with Premiere Pro 6.
Thanks in advance for your help,
Ed
Ed. I have the same problem with PMW200 and Premiere pro. I have my audio setting's set to 2 stereo pairs (4 channel audio).
If I drag my files to the timeline I get 4 audio tracks, but if I automate to timeline I only get 2 audio tracks.
I have asked around but no one seems to be able to answer this.
If you set your audio setting as I have, you may get the 4 audio tracks by dragging the files directly to the timeline.
Another problem I have is if I automate to timeline, it won't add the default audio transition to the files.
I have the same result with the files from a Panasonic HDC-HS300 I use for as a back-up for cut-a-ways. It's not a problem for me but might show that it that your problem is not the camera! But I am using PPro CS6.

The meta data is in the xdcam folder that tells premiere how many audio tracks there are.
It seems to be a premiere fault, that hopefully will be fixed in the next release.
Mike,
Are you using the latest "Creative Cloud" version of Premiere Pro where you pay by the month? I am not. I have the last version of Pro 6 that you could actually buy and own. I wonder if the latest version of Premiere Pro CC where you pay by the month would resolve our PMW-200 audio issues?
Thanks,
Ed
PS It really ticks me off that neither Sony nor Adobe are willing to do anything about this problem.
I'm using CS6 at present. Would not want to upgrade until I know it is resolved in new version.
It's not a big issue. I can work around it.
You can always download and install a trial version of Premiere Pro CC to find out if that resolves your PWM-200 audio issue.
Armed with that knowledge you could make an informed choice about upgrading.
Mike,
Could you tell me what your work around is?
Thanks,
Ed
Thanks Mark

My work around is for my problem about automate to timeline not applying the default
audio transition. After automation I select all the clips on the timeline then go to
sequence / apply default audio transition.
PS It really ticks me off that neither Sony nor Adobe are willing to do anything about this problem.
Is it a known issue? Have you seen it discussed on the Adobe forums? If so can you send me a link? Have you submitted a bug report? I can give these things a little nudge, but need to know that it's a known issue!
It is an issue Mark. Doubt that Adobe will fix it for CS6. May do for CC.
It looks like their settings for XDCAM does not recognise more that 2 audio tracks.
Also as I stated, the automate to timeline is not adding the default audio transition.
Perhaps 2 related issues here.
Mark,
I called Adobe and they DO NOT have a solution to my problem, which I think is pathetic. Also, Sony DENIES that there is ANY change in their audio codec/file type from the EX-1/EX-1R series to the PMW-200. If that's true, then why does CS6 handle the EX-/EX-1R audio with no problem and has major issues with the PMW-200 audio????
Ed
Ed, Mike, have either of you submitted a bug report? If not, please do so.

I don't have any PMW-200 footage, only EX1. If one of you wanted to upload a 10 second shot - as it comes off the card, in the original format in a BPAV folder - to Dropbox and PM me the link I''d be interested in having a look.
