Problem with Mico DVD recorder

I've discovered that any home recorded DVD+R disk which has successful recordings on the disk will be ERASED if I cycle the power to the DVD recorder with the unfinalised disk still inserted!

I suspect the power up sequence is detroying the dvd index on the disk.

I've tried reading the disks in other DVD players and on my laptop DVD drive but the disks comes up as blank with zero bytes on the disk and no recordable space available!

Does anyone know of a way to retrieve this currently inaccesible data?

Cheers

badcopy pro may access it.
BUT
Why would you powercycle any device with a cartridge in it , unless it has jammed up , which may mean that the disk is already faulty , and it isn't the powercycling which is causing the problem.

Thanks for the reply - I'll try running that s/w as you suggest. I'll let you know how I get on.

As for WHY power down.... good question.

The machine in question is in a bedroom.
My partner requires total darkness in order to sleep.
Apparently the display on the dvd and TV are too bright - even when in standby - therefore - off they go, every night, at the wall socket!

The recording I made yesterday - which had already been reviewed successfully - had disappeared when I retrieved the disk from the player this morning......

I then did 2 controlled experiments using both a +R and a +RW.

I recorded for a short time on each - checked the playback then powered down with the disk in the tray. Upon power up both disks had been erased.

In the case of the +RW it was possible to record on the whole disk - in the case of the +R the disk appears to be "goosed" no further recordings could be made.

Already done, believe me! Stable door is firmly closed.
Trouble is that the horse has already bolted.

Currently running BadCopy pro in mode#2 and it's actually finding files on the corrupt DVD!
At the speed it is running I may be able to report a result in the next couple of hours!

Thanks a million for your help - much appreciated!
