Can anyone tell me what camera to purchase if I want to edit my old VHS footage via a Hi8 camera into iMovie and then take them back edited into Hi8 and then into VHS. I really need the advice of someone who has or is currently doing this
Many thanks

Have you decided against Digital8 Dave?
dave , Hi8 cams don't have the necessary digital output (FireWire/iLink) to connect to an iMac. You will need to use an Analogue-DV converter (like the HollyWood DV-Bridge, DataVideo DAC-1 or Formac Studio) to get VHS or Hi8 source footage into a digital format that can be used with iMovie.

Dependent on amount of footage to transfer it could be cheaper to transfer VHS to Hi8.

Sorry for the confusion but I think I meant a DV8 camera which I know you can play a VHS through the DV8 and via firewire in to iMac and into iMovie
I think you're limited to Sony Dave, as I believe Hitachi can't be in enabled. The choices are DCRTR8000, DCRTRV120 (same but with LCD screen), DCRTRV320 (same as 120 plus memory stick), DCRTRV620 (already in enabled and bigger screen), and DCRTRV820 (with built in printer). Depends which one you can afford, all will do VHS to DV.
Many thanks for the advice, have you any first hand experience of iMovie with these cameras and the VHS
