Hi

I'm new to this camcorder business but I have just purchased a Canon MV300i complete with IntroDv Firewire card. My PC has a Celeron 333MHz processor, 64MB Ram and 6.4GB hard disc, with Windows 98 SE.

I have been experimenting with a downloaded trial version of Puremotion EditStudio software. Everything works superbly - great video, no lost frames, sound through the desktop speakers when recording.

However there is no sound during playback with the Windows media player, or with the EditStudio preview window. I think it must be a Windows settings problem as I can record sound using the IntroDV software, but this uses the Quicktime viewer. I've checked all the obvious multimedia settings (volume controls etc.)

Please can anyone help.

Thanks.

When building your final movie in the wizard you should be presented with options for audio compression in Edit Studio. Depending on the type of video compression you choose directly affects the choices for audio compression. Play with the choices on audio compression on a small 12 second clip or so and see if one gives sound on the final movie. I had similar problems on the wmf files and had to play with the sammpling rates for the audio to get an acceptable playback. Hope that helps unless you've allready tried that. :)

I have found a solution but I don't understand why. The Canon MV300i can record sound in either 12 bit or 16 bit resolution. With 12 bit sound it doesn't play back as described, but with 16 bit it does.

Luckily I have just been experimenting so nothing important has been wasted.

Thanks for your help.
